How to Protect yourself from this simple WhatsApp hack

A while back, two female MCAs, one for Vihiga and the other for Siaya allegedly posted nudes on a WhatsApp group. They later denied ever posting nudes on WhatsApp claiming that it was a hack.

Were they hacked? Probably a yes and a no.
To start, WhatsApp has an end-to-end encryption which ensures that only you and the person you're communicating with can read your messages. Nobody can view your text messages sent, not even WhatsApp employees.
So how is it possible for someone to access to your WhatsApp?
Let's say you happen to trust friends with your phone. If a malicious friend has "WhatsApp Web" opened on his computer browser, he will go to your phone's WhatsApp settings, select "WhatsApp Web" and scan the QR code on his computer. Just like that, he has access to your WhatsApp.
At his convenient time, he/she will photoshop your image on a nude photo. Once you switch on your mobile data, the 'hacker' will have access to your WhatsApp. He/she can upload 'nude' photos to all your groups, chat with your spouse, break up with your mpango-wa-kando, insult your boss or even katia your wive's best friend.
My suggestion is at all time, ensure your phone is locked. If you have to allow your friend access to your WhatsApp, ensure you sign out of WhatsApp Web immediately.
Go to your WhatsApp settings on your phone, select "WhatsApp Web" and click on "Log out of all computers".
